Third Team Meeting!/060115

Happy (belated) New Year!!!! :) We had our third meeting during the first week of 2015 and it was a good time of updates & catching up.

Of course, what's a Cheway! team meeting without a game? This time, we played a game called "Spaghetti Eiffel" whereby teams RANDOMLY grouped together were required to work together to build a tallest structure - with pasta! - that would stand. It was quite QEWL to see how the team members worked with one another and the kinds of wacky ideas they had. Based on the height, number of marshmallows used as well as a team-voted creativity segment, we had group 3 as the winning group:)) And theirs lasted the longest without falling haha!

OUR WINNING GROUP, GROUP 3!

After the games segment, the meeting started proper with the appointment of our team's 3rd leader - Gordon! Here's a portrait of him to satisfy your curiosity ;)

Our Project Director & Assistant Project Director then shared with us about the recent recce trip they made to Tacloban City. As mentioned in the previous post, we will be working with Barangay 89, a community of 37 families who are ex-home sharers, made up mainly of young couples and toddlers who did not know one another beforehand.

Also highlighted earlier, we are looking at setting up a store whereby the villagers can sell water that will be dispensed from the water tank built by Mercy Relief, hence diversifying their means of livelihood (since too many of them are counting on fishing to earn a living!). Hopefully, too, through this, the villagers will learn about small-scale business management!

We then had Qing Wei, head of Ops, to explain to us how the reed bed system would work.

We also decided on the accommodation that we'll be living in! It's a townhouse with a common laundry and kitchen area. It will be fun to live together XD

Moving on to fundraising updates, here're several of the confirmed designs that will be making their heroic appearances on our merchandises really soon! From the geeky-looking Superman to the badass Batman and other cheeky emojis that are not featured here (support our fundraisers to find out what they are!), we're sure you'll find something you'll like! Our first fundraising event will be held in conjunction with Engin Day, 27 January 2015. Please do come down to take a look!

Also part of our fundraising efforts is us providing carwash services! This will be conducted from 11 to 13 February 2015 (yes, your car needs a sparkle that comes just in time for Valentines' Day & Chinese New Year!) for a mere $10, which goes towards funding our project. Killing several birds with one stone, eh?

As you can see, we've got many activities lined up in the coming weeks, and so do stay tuned to this page for more updates! And remember to visit our booth on Engin Day! :) There are surprises waiting for you:)
